The Real Meaning of Friendship

The concept of being a friend involves consistency and availability.
Friends are loyal.
They are there for you when you are down,
and when you have cause for celebration.
They give you "emotional band-aids" when you need them,
and something funny when you're blue.
Mostly, they are there...
always there...
when you need them.
Not "too busy" or
"in a funk" or
"cave dwelling".
The true gift of friendship is that when your world comes tumbling down,
you know your friends will be there for you.
They are your emotional support system,
your life line,
when you go adrift.
It often takes a large, emotional event in your life,
to sort out who your friends are,
and who your friends are not.
